Foreign Workers In Canada...employers view

I agree that many Canadians want to work and Immigrant workers are taking jobs away from those who want to work, but I also hear the business owner’s side of the story.

There are those kids out there that EXPECT too much too soon, ten dollars an hour is enough spending money for a teenager to have in their pockets and have a little to save. There are people on social services that do not want to show up for work or even do the job properly when they do and are only there until the next child is born, then a business owner is looking for a replacement.

For the kids, you have to work those dead end jobs to appreciate the career you are climbing the ladder to get to; it is just a fact of life. The kid that does not know how to use the broom/mop properly because no one at home was willing to say “here is a chore for that movie you want to go to this weekend” when they are old enough to learn, teach yourself if no one is going to it will save you heart ache.

We expect higher wages from these dead end jobs so we can survive on them, which push up the prices of everything from a pack of gum to a new car and refuse to do the jobs at the wages they are paying so business owners have to look outside the country to hire people who are willing to actually do the hard work, willing to get their hands dirty and go to home exhausted. Then we complain that they are hiring foreigners’.

If we Canadians are not willing to get our hands dirty slinging pig crap, bending over in hot greenhouses, running around serving stingy customers who complain about foreigners taking their jobs, then we deserve what we get.

We are not meant to live off of these jobs people; they are the hand up jobs that push us to do better for ourselves. To make us believe there is a better world out there for us, if we are not willing to work the dead end jobs for dead end pay, we are cheating ourselves out of that “kick in the pants” we need to put us on the path we are going.
